About the course
Accurate assessment of a child with acute illness or injury requires specialised knowledge and skills. ENPC is designed to provide the core-level paediatric knowledge nurses need to properly assess paediatric patients and implement evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes.
The current ENPC 6th Edition uses a patient-presentation-based approach focused on recognising normal and abnormal findings and choosing appropriate interventions.
ENPC 6th Edition highlights
This edition includes updated and expanded content, including:
- The Child with a Rash
- The Child with Special Health Care Needs
- The Child with an Injury
- The Child in Need of Stabilization, including resuscitation and critically ill presentations
Why take ENPC
ENA’s ENPC is designed specifically for nurses and offers:
- Evidence-based content developed by paediatric nursing experts
- Curriculum tailored to emergency nursing practice
- Practical learning that can be applied to paediatric patients in real settings
- Regularly updated course content as paediatric care evolves
- Internationally recognised four-year ENPC provider verification upon successful completion
- Increased confidence in paediatric emergency patient care
What the course includes
ENPC uses a variety of learning methods to support different learning styles, including:
- Provider manual
- Required online pre-course modules
- Simulation
- Instructor-led classroom discussions
- Skill stations
- Electronic open-book testing
The manual includes core paediatric emergency nursing content along with expanded topics such as dermatologic emergencies, environmental emergencies, human trafficking, food allergies, and more.
Pre-course learning provides access to required online modules, allowing participants to learn at their own pace and receive immediate feedback before the live course.
Who should attend
This course is ideal for nurses who provide care to children in emergency, urgent care, acute care, and related clinical settings, or who want to strengthen their paediatric emergency nursing foundation.
It may be especially helpful for emergency nurses seeking a structured, recognised course in paediatric assessment and intervention.
Prerequisites and eligibility
Participants must be a registered nurse to receive ENPC provider verification.
Licensed practical nurses and paramedics may attend all portions of the course and earn CNE hours, but they are not eligible for provider status verification.
