What this workshop is about
Nursing has deep historical roots in nature-based healing traditions, but many modern healthcare environments separate nurses from the natural world. This introductory workshop explores the relationship between nursing and nature, the professional and societal factors that contribute to nature estrangement, and the evidence behind nature connection as a support for nurse well-being.
Participants will learn simple, accessible nature-connection practices that can be integrated into daily life and clinical settings to support emotional regulation, cognitive clarity, holistic health, and grounded professional presence.
What to expect
This is designed as a retreat-style nursing education experience, not a standard classroom programme. Nurses will spend the day immersed in the natural setting of FigMINT Farms, which includes a tall pine forest, small lake, walking path, deck, herbal garden, firepit, and open-air pergola.
The day includes experiential learning, reflection, community-building, and a provided lunch from Sassool Restaurant.
Learning themes
The workshop will help nurses explore:
- The historical connection between nursing and nature-based healing
- How nature connection can support nurse well-being and resilience
