Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School is a regional vocational-technical school that offers both day and evening classes to high school students. The Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School, in Salem, Massachusetts is a public technical school that offers courses to people of all ages. The school has been open since 1959 and works with the Salem Public Schools as well as other schools from across the state.
Founded on September 11th, 1959 by John A. Bancroft Jr., SRVTS was originally named the "Salem Vocational Technical Institute." The institute started with two main purposes: help students who were not academically inclined at their local high schools pursue vocational careers; and maintain quality training for those in need of retraining after World War II ended because many veterans had lost jobs due to automation or outsourcing.
