The college was originally founded as Jewish Hospital School of Nursing on August 6th 1902 by Dr. Sarah Goldfarb (daughter of founder Isaac M. Goldfarb) with 7 students enrolled and just 3 faculty members; it became the first school to be nationally accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN). The Barnes Hospital School of Nursing opened its doors October 18th 1955 with 200 students enrolled at this time.
