The first male student was admitted in 1946. While the college was originally a women’s college, Hunter College has always been very inclusive, accepting students regardless of their race, financial situation, religion or political leanings for over 150 years. Today it serves more than 20,000 students on its main campus in Manhattan; another 8500 at Queensborough Community College (QCC) on Long Island; 6000 at Kingsborough Community College (KCC).
