Lenoir-Rhyne University is a private, not-for-profit 4 year university with an urban campus in Hickory. Founded in 1872, the school has grown to offer more than forty undergraduate programs and six master's degrees. For over 140 years, Lenoir-Rhyne has been committed to providing a wide range of educational opportunities for students seeking careers as professional nurses or those who plan on transferring into graduate nursing programs. With an emphasis on community service, Lenoir Rhyne has been named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for nine consecutive years. The university encourages student involvement in research projects that are both inside and outside of the classroom through field work opportunities with professors as well as research assistantships.
