The first building was erected on land donated by John Ross and Alva Gibson on North Lewis Street near the center of town. The college moved to its current location at 200 N. Park Ave., Lock Haven PA 17745 in 1973 after a fire destroyed the original campus buildings including Smith Hall which housed all departments within it except for women’s physical education classes.

The campus includes five residence halls, three academic buildings with classrooms and laboratories, a library building housing the Lock Haven University Archives & Special Collections department which houses over 30 thousand books dating back to 1771, two gymsnasiums with exercise rooms equipped with weight machines and cardio equipment for student use free of charge 24 hours a day 7 days a week.Lock Haven University has been designated.

LHUPC is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and offers associate degrees in arts and sciences, applied science and technology as well as certificates and diplomas.
The LHUPC campus includes 15 buildings totaling more than 1 million square feet. Students can choose from over 60 degree programs including traditional college majors such as Accounting, Biology, Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, Computer Science or Nursing to certificate programs such as Construction Management Technology or Early Childhood Education. Some courses are offered online or at other campuses to provide students with greater opportunities for success.
