Mercyhurst North East is a private, Catholic college in Erie County, Pennsylvania. In 1867 the Sisters of Mercy founded what was then called Sister's College at Erie. On November 12, 1948 the name was changed to Mercyhurst College and on July 1, 2007 it became known as Mercyhurst University. The school has grown from its original enrollment of 125 students to over 2200 undergraduate students today.
