New Courtland Education Center

New Courtland Education Center is the only school in Philadelphia that provides a full-time, tuition-free education to students from birth through eighth grade. It's also the first public elementary school in the country designed for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. The New Courtland School District is one of 17 small city districts within Philadelphia’s borders, populated by kids who often don't have access to their own schools or parents who can afford private options.

The school strives to be a place where every child feels welcome and accepted, regardless of background or ability level—a unique opportunity for these kids given their challenging circumstances. We believe that when all children are given an equitable chance at education and success, they will rise up.

The New Courtland Education Center is a private, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It offers education and training services for adults with disabilities. Our mission is to empower individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities so they may lead meaningful lives as valued members of their communities. The National Disability Institute has named our school as one of the top schools in the nation for developing independence skills and promoting employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. We provide high quality training programs that are designed to meet individual needs while teaching job readiness skills such as resume writing, interview techniques, and computer literacy.

Our mission is to provide a quality education through small class sizes, individualized instruction, and community involvement. New Courtland has been educating students since 1994. With our new facility opening this year we will be able to serve even more students with innovative educational programs such as blended learning academies, STEM programming, Career & Technical Education courses, art classes for grades K-6th grade arts integration program (AIP), dual language immersion programs (Spanish/English) from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8th.

The New Courtland Education Center is an educational institute that has been a pillar in the Philadelphia community for over 100 years. With its rich legacy of excellence, and committed staff members, the center strives to provide all students with an education that they can be proud of.

 The school offers classes from pre-K through eighth grade on both a full time and part time basis as well as after school enrichment programs which are available for students up to 12th grade. They offer many different types of classes such as French or Spanish language courses, math tutoring, robotics classes, art studio instruction and more. This year the school will celebrate their centennial anniversary!
