Established in 1969 to meet the needs of northwest Alabama and southwest Tennessee, Northwest-Shoals Community College was originally known as "Phil Campbell Junior College." In 1992, it became an independent community college with its own Board of Trustees and administration. The school changed its name to Northwest-Shoals Community College in 1994. Offering associate degrees for transfer or occupational training as well as certificates and diplomas for job skills attainment, NWSC serves approximately 5500 students annually through credit courses on campus (Phillips Hall) and online courses via eCampusPlus® .
