Oikos University's mission is to provide quality Christian higher education in an affordable format with flexible schedules for working adults and parents. 

Oikos University was founded in 1999 by Dr. Sang Kyu Pak after he met his wife, Dr. Jin Sook Pak, who had been teaching English on the side while raising their six children as a stay-at-home mom. In 2006, Drs. Sang Kyu and Jin Sook were struck by tragedy when they lost their youngest daughter to cancer at age nine; they persevered through this hardship with faith in God and created Oikos.

 Oikos University is a private, non-profit university in Oakland, California. Oikos provides undergraduate and graduate programs for working adults who have been underrepresented in higher education. Our mission is to provide high quality liberal arts and professional degree programs that enable underserved populations to achieve economic self-sufficiency and personal growth through intellectual development and practical experience.

We offer three degree programs: an undergraduate program in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Communications; a Master of Science in Healthcare Management; and a Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine. Oikos University offers personalized attention to each student through our small class sizes, experienced faculty, individualized advising services and flexible course schedules.

Oikos University is a private, nonprofit university geared toward educating students in the Christian and Buddhist traditions. The school was founded in 1974 by Dr. Kyong Ho Kim to provide educational opportunities for those interested in Eastern religions. Oikos University offers undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, and a variety of certificate programs to meet the diverse needs of its student population.
