We are proud to be one of the premier public universities in Pennsylvania, and we have been instrumental in providing high quality education for Pennsylvanians since 1939. The campus was established on land that had been donated by two local families, and it quickly became apparent that more space would soon be needed to accommodate the growing student population. In 1948, PSU purchased additional acres of land from the family of Harry Crampton so they could expand their facilities accordingly.
