St Catherine University
St. Catherine University is a private, Catholic and coeducational university in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1905 as one of the first higher learning schools for women in the Midwest, it now offers undergraduate programs for women and graduate-level programs for men and women, with nearly 5,000 students enrolled each year. In 1985, St. Kate’s acquired St. Mary’s Junior College (formerly called “St. Mary’s School of Nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital), which was founded in 1887 as part of the legacy left from Saint Vincent de Paul to provide healthcare for those who could not afford it themselves through a St. Catherine University is the only Catholic, liberal arts university in Minnesota with undergraduate programs for women and graduate-level programs for men and women.
