The College of Saint Scholastica is a private Roman Catholic college, founded by Mother Scholastica Kerst and 28 Sisters in 1912. The College of Saint Scholastica is a private, Catholic liberal arts college offering more than 100 majors in four colleges: Arts and Sciences; Business Administration; Education and Health Professions. The college was founded by Mother Scholastica Kerst and 28 Sisters in 1912 with the support of Bishop John Ireland. It is still affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The mission statement includes to be "the premier institution for educating leaders committed to sustainable local and global communities."


In 1920, the College became an accredited junior college but did not offer any four-year degrees until 1971 when it began offering its first bachelor's degree program in education. In 1985, it began to offer graduate programs as well.
