The University of Central Florida is a public research university located in Orlando, FL. The school was founded in 1963 and opened in 1968 as Florida Technological University with the intention of educating engineers and scientists. UCF has been ranked #1 for student quality among large colleges nationwide by Forbes Magazine since 2010 due to their competitive admissions process which includes an average SAT score near 1300 and ACT score around 30-31 out of 36 possible points (2016).
