University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

The University of Michigan is a public research university in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the state's oldest institution of higher education. The University was established in 1817 as the result of an act by the Legislative Council of the Territory of Michigan. It was founded as "University of Michigania" before being renamed to reflect its new home at Ann Arbor in 1837.
