The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost is a public university located in the city of Brownsville, Texas. The institution was founded in 1927 as one of the six regional branches of the University of Texas System and became an independent university on July 1, 1963. With its main campus near downtown Brownsville, UTB has additional sites at Fort Brown and Southmost. UTB offers more than 150 undergraduate degree programs to more than 14,000 students annually with a student-to-faculty ratio of 19:1

The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost is a public university located in Brownsville, Texas. It was created by combining the already-existing UTB with the former USM (Texas Southmost College) on July 1, 2013. The new institution has an initial enrollment of over 10,000 students, which will increase to 15,000 within ten years.

The University offers bachelor's degrees in 31 majors; master’s degrees in education (K-12), math education and secondary science education; post baccalaureate teacher certification programs for grades K-12 mathematics and secondary science labs doctoral degrees in business administration and nursing;; as well as various other certificate programs.
