Wesley College is one of the three private, not-for-profit 4-year colleges in Delaware. The campus is located in an urban area, in Dover. According to the NCES 2017 report, a total of 1,561 students attend the school. In the 2017 fall enrollment, 407 freshman students enrolled, and approximately 232 students returned for their sophomore year (which makes its freshman retention rate 57%). Every year 17% of the graduating class students graduate in 150% of the time it takes to complete their studies.

Founded by Methodist leaders in 1873 and originally known as Wesleyan Female College, the institution was renamed to Wesley College after merging with the all-male Delaware State College in 1954.
