Highland Community College has been around for over 150 years and is the oldest community college in the state. It was originally founded as Highland University but became a public community college in 1914 when it merged with Hays State Normal School. The school is named after its location, Highland, Kansas which is also where the university is located. Students can pursue many different degrees at this college such as nursing and business administration to name just two of them.

Nursing at HCC is a very important part of the culture of the college. This program has been held in high regard for a very long time. Several different nursing programs are available for students to choose from, too. You will find that the school has a certified nursing assistant program, as well as options for practical nursing, associate degree nursing, and LPN to RN programs. All nursing courses will teach students the proper knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required to have a successful career in their area of study. This thorough program has produced many fine nurses over the years and continues to remain a popular option for prospective nurses in the community.
