Highland Community College was established in 1962 and is a public community college. It has a 140-acre campus with seven on it that are mostly used for classes. HCC has everything that students need to get a great education such as sports complex which also operates as the local YMCA, where students who are enrolled in at least six credit hours worth of classes can receive free membership every semester. Students will be able to pursue many different majors while attending this school including but not limited to: Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or just taking courses for personal enrichment purposes.

The nursing program at HCC has proven to be an exceptionally popular option over the years. Students will be able to enjoy a truly excellent program that offers them every advantage. Nursing students will receive great training at this school. This program will allow nurses to stop after one year to earn their practical nursing certificates or they can complete the two-year program to earn their associate's degrees in nursing to become RNs.

 The school has an exceptionally high success rate for nurses who are taking the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. Another aspect that helps this school to stand out is that they offer night courses. It makes things as convenient as possible for HCC students who have other responsibilities during the day.
