John and Margaret Voorhies with the goal of providing an affordable place where people could train for careers that were not otherwise available at other vocational schools, such as computer programming and drafting. The school opened its doors on January 4th 1978 with three instructors teaching 14 classes on a single campus site in Gonzales Louisiana. In 1983, due to growth of enrollment, it relocated into two locations.
