St. Jude Healthcare Education Center
St. Jude Healthcare Education Center is a non-profit organization that provides high quality, free healthcare education for the public in order to empower them with knowledge and tools so they can make informed choices about their health. St. Jude dedicates itself to provide information that helps people live healthier lives and reduce the risk of illness or injury by empowering them with knowledge and practical skills on topics such as: healthy eating, sleeping habits, safe exercise practices, preventing falls at home or work, learning about chronic conditions like diabetes or heart disease; understanding medications; taking care of children’s health needs; avoiding infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS and Ebola.
Since 1962, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been a pioneer in pediatric research and the development of new treatments for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It was founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and his wife, Rose Marie.
Today, it is one of the world's best child-focused cancer centers with real breakthroughs in treating childhood cancers that have helped push survival rates from less than 10% to over 80%.
St. Jude is also known for its "no family ever pays" philosophy which guarantees treatment regardless of ability to pay or type of insurance coverage. This policy helps ensure patients are not turned away because they cannot afford care or lack health insurance coverage.
The St. Jude Healthcare Education Center was founded in 1982 as a resource for teaching healthcare professionals and individuals with an interest in the field of oncology about cancer and its treatment.
In addition to offering diverse educational programming, including lectures by internationally renowned experts, symposia, workshops, simulation courses and webinars, our center also provides opportunities for fellowship training through our partnership with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Our mission is to be a leader in cancer education and research that improves patient care globally.
