 The following year, 322 acres of land were purchased from the citizens of Long Beach to accommodate the new campus where enrollment grew steadily from 1959 to 1964 when it reached 30,000 students. 

From there CSULB continued to grow as part of the California State University system which includes 23 other campuses around the state and one of its largest universities with 37,776 students for 2016 Fall semester.
